As a result of the past investment in space activities in South Africa a new company Space Commercial Services (SCS) was created in mid 2008 in response to an unmet international demand for increasing the value of space program investments.  The activities were expanded in August 2009 to include high level engineering services and solutions for the development, operationalisation, utilisation and commercialisation of space infrastructure.  A particular focus is increasing the value of space programs through the consolidation of fragmented demand and supply of space derived services.
